This John Deere Hy-Gard transmission fluid is specially blended to provide you long lasting wear protection for your John Deere equipment. Made specifically for John Deere hydrostatic transmission components, this transmission fluid has an ISO 32 viscosity grade. Great for cold weather applications too. Gallon size. A polymeric viscosity improver helps Hy-Gard retain its proper viscosity over a wide range of operating temperatures. For Hy-Gard to work efficiently, it must flow readily through any part of the system. Oil that is too light can cause increased wear; too heavy will cause sluggish operation and lower mechanical efficiency.

Assures high braking capacity by reducing wet-brake chatter.

Superior wet-clutch performance for smoother clutch operation.

High tolerance to water contamination without sludge formation, which could cause filter clogging and hydraulic system malfunction –anti-oxidation capability allows oil to work properly at high temperatures, helping keep transmissions and hydraulic system moving parts clean.

Provides protection against rust and corrosion, particularly during low-use periods.

Anti-wear additives keep gear and bearing wear to a minimum – extreme pressure film in Hy-Gard helps prevent metal-to-metal contact.

The right stuff but packaged poorly for shipping. Cap came loose and no internal wrapping led to oil leak in and out of the box. They made good on it but still a mess to clean up.

Couldn't JD just use a standard automatic transmission fluid from a car? Surely the needs of a lawn tractor aren't much different than a car or truck?
